CJ Jackson......A potted history of the man of soul

The “Man of Soul” CJ Jackson has been performing since the age of 16 with live bands, eventually forming his own called Exposure leading to supporting Toyah Wilcox, The Specials and Hugh Masekela in the 80s. He later went on to sing soul with Commitments tribute band The Revelations that led to Staxlantic another great soul band who supported Jimmy Ruffin, George McCrae, Edwin Starr and Jimmy James. Then came "Godfatha” for him to tribute James Brown that successfully led to a TV appearance on live TV “Canary Wharf”. His second TV appearance came on BBC2 where the programme focused on past Motown legends there he performed with The New Drifters featuring Ray Lewis. His love of working with a band brought him joy with Classic soul band Ten Feet Tall and performed every month at Leicester’s live music venue the Shed where he was discovered by leading sound engineer Geoff Beadman, who was currently working with Faye Treadwells Drifters and shortly after Johnny Moores sad departure from this world he was offered a gig to fill in for another member at Lincoln Castle for the Rotary club back in 2000. He made such a good impression and continued with them for over two years performing at numerous theatres & clubs in the UK and abroad, finally going solo. A third TV appearance followed on Carlton TV “The Last Word” in November 2003. As a result this experience has produced a great entertainer and C J can be found all over the country at Warners, Grosvenor Casinos and various holiday parks. He is currently working on a single for general release for his album “Man of Soul”.
